What makes me truly qualified to support people in preparing for death? I have sat with this question - and in large part I believe it is my willingness and openness to provide time, space and a sounding board to elicit the ideas that sit inside of you. Asked the right open questions, a lot of the answers you will already know and the rest you can consider, research and decide. I have not done it myself! As Simon Boas writes in his excellent bookA Beginner’s Guide to Dyingwhen our time comes, we are all beginners.

I am drawn to seek the thoughts and insights of others with experience of supporting those who are dying, or planning for their deaths. I am hosting a discussion group. If you work in palliative care, legal or financial services, as an undertaker, minister of religion or death doula. If you would like to join the discussion group, please click here.
